We feature a flexible submission procedure. We invite authors from
any country to submit their proposals. Basically, any law or law related
text in the English language, such as any (working) paper, law review
article, classroom materials, is considered for publication. We
base approval of the text for publication on the usefulness
of the work for the legal and academic community. We do not publish
fiction. You can send us any text such as an article, paper, manuscript,
etc., to be considered for publication. If your research is in the concept stage, send us your proposal including subject area and en explanation of the contents of the book. You can expect a confirmation within two weeks if we can
publish your work.
Please include contact information including phone number and e-mail
address as well as the expected date when the work can be submitted
for publication. Once confirmed, publication approvals are valid for
six months.
After your work is approved for publication, you will receive a publication
contract. This is a short and simple contract stating that Vandeplas
Publishing approves your work for publication into a book. Main elements
of the contract address that you, the author, maintain the copyright to
the work, but grants Vandeplas Publishing the right to sell the book
in its current version for 5 years and receives a royalty fee
of 10% of the wholesale price of the book, which is the retail price
to be set by the publisher, minus a 60% trade discount. Publisher has
the right to set the title for the book and design of the cover.
If appropriate, the book will be entered into a series of books within
the same subject area. The author will also receive 10 copies of the
book for his/her own use or review submission.
Submitting the work for publication |
In order to publish your book, we need to receive a PDF file which
contains the work ready for publication. We do not perform any editing
or proofreading for the book. We believe this is best done by the
author or under control of the author. If you require a 3rd party
for lay out etc., you can also contact us for recommendations. After
your work is approved for a publication, you will receive further
guidelines for submitting your work.
In general, these rules apply: We do not have citation
requirements, you can use the system you are familiar and comfortable
with. All books are standard, perfect bound and have standard a
finished size of 6.5 x 9.5 inch and the PDF you submit must be double
sided letter size for the pages with a minimum margin of 1.5 inch
on the top and bottom.
